Power Grid Rules
- Prohibited:
- Generators (RV or standalone)
- Traditional AC’s (except inside RVs)
- Microwaves, hair dryers, heaters, refrigerators, freezers or other high power drawing appliances.
- Open flames
- Stockpiling fuel or gas
- Allowed:
- Swamp cooler (manual-fill only, no hose hookups due to leak risk)
- Required:
- Each camper must bring a 50-ft grounded, outdoor-rated extension cord (14 AWG or greater) – e.g. this one
- Daily maintenance: Generators down 8–9am
Power Grid Guidelines
- Electrical power is provided 24/7.
- In addition to the required 50-foot grounded outdoor-rated extension cord of 14 wire gauge or greater, a plug strip is also recommended for connecting multiple devices.
- Power Use:
- Each tent should draw no more than 100W at any time.
- There is no set amount, but limit your power usage to charging personal items, small fans including swamp coolers, and kettles
- Power is for inflating air mattresses, charging devices, illumination, running fans, CPAPs or other medical devices.
- Power is NOT for running major appliances such as refrigeration, air conditioning, space heaters, ovens, ranges, etc.
- Conserving Power:
- Swamp coolers are suggested for cooling personal tents.
- Electrical power should be conserved on playa. Turn off lights during the day.
